FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How can your prices be so
low?
A: At Spex2you,
we are driven to keeping our prices as low
as possible. We work on selling many many
glasses but for a lot less profit than the
high street. To achieve this we have to keep
our overheads low. This is easy enough as
we don't have high street shops and the staff
that goes with them.
Q:
Are the products on your site of the same
standard to those I can buy elsewhere?
A: We offer
many of the same frames that are on offer
on the high street, just at vastly reduced
prices! We use the same frame manufacturers,
lens manufacturers and glazing labs as opticians.
The only difference is the price we sell them
at!
Q:
What do I need to place an order?
A: You
will need a valid prescription that has been
issued within the last two years. You cannot
order from us if your prescription is older
than two years as chances are, your prescription
may well have changed in that time frame.
If you do not have a current prescription,
please go for an eye test and ensure that
the optician gives you a copy. You may have
to ask for this but your Optician is obliged
to give you this by law! Remember also that
you are under no obligation to order your
glasses from them just because you have paid
them for your eye test. Please also remember
that even if you do not pay for your prescription,
the Optician will still get his money from
the NHS or similar organisation. Once you
are in posession of your prescription, simply
key this information into our online ordering
system and save pounds.
Q:
My optician has tried to discourage me from
buying online, why is this?
A: The lenses
fitted to your frames to make up your prescription
are produced by state of the art equipment,
assembled and checked by qualified dispensing
opticians. They undergo the same process in
exactly the same way as if you ordered directly
from your optician. The industry is up in
arms that companies like ours have come along
and finally exposed them for inflated prices
for which they have been getting away with
for many years. Because of this, Opticians
are actively trying to discredit what we do
and of course will try to deter you. They
know that once you have brought a pair from
us or a company like us you are highly unlikely
to ever go back to paying over inflated prices
again.
Q:
How quickly will I get my glasses?
A: We try
our hardest to get your order to you within
four days. However, occasionally this is not
possible and so can sometimes take a bit longer.
As with any mail order company we do ask that
you allow up to 28 days for delivery although
we would be disappointed if you had not received
your order within 10 days.
Q:
What if I am not satisfied with my purchase?
A: Please
return the glasses to us within 14 days of
receipt stating your reasons and if it is
our fault we will return your money or change
the glasses if you would prefer. We offer
a no quibble guarantee on anything to do with
quality of our products. So why not give us
a try?
Q:
Can I try frames before I buy?
A: Yes you
can. We will soon be publishing our state
of the art Virtual Mirror which will allow
you to upload your photograph and try our
glasses on online. Also, we do offer a trial
at home service. It is FREE for up to 5 trial
frames. We send them to you to try on, get
the opinions of your loved ones and then make
an informed decision. All you have to pay
is £2.50 postage costs which also includes
the return postage and packing. We make a
small loss on this service and hope it shows
the confidence that we have in the quality
of a products. 95% of customers that use our
'trial at home' service end up placing their
order with us.
Q:
Will my prescription be correct when I receive
my glasses?
A: The state
of the art equipment used by our laboratory
ensures that prescriptions are checked and
double checked and checked again before the
lenses are cut. All the glasses are then checked
against the prescription that you provided
us with before being dispatched. In the event
that we somehow did get the prescription wrong
then of course this would be rectified free
of charge.
Q:
Are my online payments secure?
A: We guarantee
it. Our payment service providers PROTX and
PayPal use state of the art 128 bit encryption
processes so that none of the information
that you send us can be deciphered by anyone
but us. So you can shop with spex2you in the
knowledge that we take your security very
seriously.
Q:
Can you explain Pupillary Distance (PD)?
A: This is the distance between the centre
of your pupils. The measurement helps us
to correctly position the lens within the
frame. We recommend that you ask your optician
to write this measurement on your prescription.
If however you do not have this measurement,
we will fill the order using an average
Pupillary Distance as recommended by our
dispensing optician.

Q: Do you offer tints, UV protection or
scratch resistance?
A: Yes,
during the order process you are invited to
choose from a variety of additions to make
up the exact pair of glasses you wish for.
Q:
Do you offer bi-focals and vari-focals?
A: We do offer bi-focals but currently
we are unable to offer vari-focals. We are
hoping however to offer vari-focals very
soon
Q: What do the measurements on
your site refer to?
A: Yes, you will see these (possibly using
a magnifying glass) on the inside of one
of the arms of any current pair of glasses
that you may have. It should look something
like this: 50[]18 135:- 50 is the lens diameter,
18 is the bridge width and 135 is the arm
length.
The lens
diameter is the width across the widest part
of the lens in millimeters. The bridge width
is the width across the nose bridge. The arm
width is the length of the arms of the frames.
If you currently have a pair of glasses
that are a comfortable fit then
simply read the numbers from the arm and
choose a frame from our range with the same
or very similar dimensions. You can then
be sure that the glasses you order will
be as comfortable as your current glasses!

Q:
Can I get my new glasses adjusted?
A: Should your new glasses need slight
adjustment, just pop in to your local opticians
who should be happy to adjust them for you
free of charge.
